As no surprise, studies show emerging professionals significantly prefer to text over making phone calls. Texting is quick, easy and efficient, however, in many organizations making phone calls is still the preferred mode of communication. This module provides 5-things to keep in mind when deciding to text or call.

Reflective Questions:

  • How often are you texting people at work versus calling them? Would some of these work better as a call?
  • Is it okay to text people at work? Have you had the conversation with your boss and co-workers?
  • Do you feel you balance your text/call amounts? Why or why not?

Homework Assignment:

Identify what the company policy is on texting and then sit down with supervisor to discuss when to and when not to send texts at work.
